What is it?
Terate® polyols are Aromatic Polyester Polyols based on co-products derived from the production of of aromatic dibasic esters; these co-product feedstocks impart high aromaticity and functionality into the Terate polyol backbone.
Terate® polyols are available in a wide-range of functionalities, hydroxyl levels and viscosities. Our broad product portfolio affords formulators flexibility in achieving the desired range of physical and flammability properties required of polyurethane (PUR) and polyisocyanurate (PIR) systems.
Key Advantages
Flammability Advantage
In flammability tests, rigid PUR and PIR foams containing Terate® polyols deliver excellent char formation, minimal shrinkage and high weight retention. The unique aromatic structure of Terate® polyols reduces the need for high levels of expensive flame retardants in many applications.
- The Terate® brand’s excellent char properties are demonstrated in these photos1. Foams produced with Terate® polyols maintain structural integrity when subjected to heat and flames.
- The Terate® brand’s flammability performance advantage translates into considerable formulation optimization.
1Internally generated foam test. Both samples were prepared and tested using the same process, where a 4-inch by 4-inch by 1-inch specimen place in a 850°C muffle furnace for 15 minutes.
